The seventh project inaugurated by the new casino industry involves an investment of us$ 88.2 million and the generation of 1,044 permanent direct employments, has 800 games of chance machines, 50 table games and 336 bingo positions, on top of a bar and a restaurant. Marina del Sol will operate from Sunday to Thursday from 12,00 p.m. to 4 a.m., and from Friday 12 p.m. until Sunday 6.00 a.m. on weekends.
Leiva affirmed that “Marina del Sol complies with the norm set by SCJ so the new casino apply in Chile the technical and transparency standards from developed countries”. He pointed that “On top of the fact that the gaming material was authorized by SCJ, it also controlled that all the machines were new, that the instructions were written in Spanish and that they guarantee its customers a percentage of the prize for the player, no less that 85% of the total of the combinations possible”.
The 20% of the gross gaming incomes that new casinos must pay may just be invested in developments to benefit the population in a direct way. According to this, the superintendent explained that “estimations point that, for November 2009, Talcahuano and the regional government of Bío Bío would have received – each- us$ 4,300,453 in concept of specific gaming tax”.
In the following months- and up to March 25th, 2009-, Marina del Sol will continue with the construction of the rest of the integral project, comprised by a five-star hote with 114 rooms and a convention center, spa, gymnasium and heated swimming pool, cultural center, Imax cinema, disco, restaurants, interactive museum, etc.
Of the 18 new casinos that are part of the new industry in Chile, the project in Talca council is in the verification stage. The ones in Pinto -Termas de Chillán-, Los Ángeles, Copiapó, Santa Cruz, Mostazal, Antofagasta and Talcahuano are operational.
During the first semestre of 2009 there will be inaugurated the casinos in Calama, Temuco, Valdivia, Osorno and Punta Arenas; and in the second semester, the ones in Rinconada and San Antonio. Besides, the latest three authorized in 2008 are in the initial stage, in Ovalle, Castro and Coyhaique.
