Since last July, Barrière wanted to get out of this establishment as it had been unprofitable since their arrival in 2000. This early breach of contract will cost them a compensation of 1.7 million euros. Partouche group thus becomes the undisputed leader of the casino sector in Belgium, with tour of the nine gambling houses of the kingdom, as they already own three others in Knokke-le-Zoute, Ostende and Chaudfontaine respectively. The new franchise will last 20 years.

The casino has been immediately closed by the new owner for renovation. According to Jacques Frojman, managing director of the new company “Grand casino de Dinant”, a subsidiary of Partouche group, these works should not last more than three weeks.

The administrative circuit directly involved in the granting of franchises will no doubt leave aghast the managers of Partouche group in charge of the French market. On February 13, the municipal council of Dinant chose its new operator. On that same day, in the afternoon, the Commission des jeux de hazard (games of chance control commission) granted the operating licence. Even Richard Fournaux, mayor of Dinant, admitted he was “happily surprised” of such velocity.

Partouche group intends to achieve positive financial results for the casino of Dinant within three years, with the arrival of new slot machines, the setting up of Texas Hold'em Poker as well as the development of entertainment activities.

Presently, the gambling house has a total of 60 employees and, according to the councillor Thierry Boldet, this number should not go down. “For us, what's important is that we have been able to face up to the departure of the Accor/Barrière group with success, by keeping the tool and the 60 staff members”, he stated.
