Wednesday December 26th, the government passed the law which authorizes the council to grant the administration of Casino Carrasco to hotel companies or gambling operators.
The rule established that the council will have to be in charge of the supervision of games of chance developed inside the casino.
It is established that the granting of the refurbishment and remodelation of the building and the management of the casino and the hotel for 30 years. Besides, it defines a schedule for the construction and it brings a 20-month deadline for its conclusion, explained to El País the Director of Supplying of the council, Néstor Fernández.
The government that the company that wins the license should pay the council an annual fee comprised by two elements. The first one is a payment of at least us$ 596,387 in the first three years and at least US$ 1,192,774 from the fourth year on.
The second element is a percentage of the profits of the casinos, which should be established between the council and the operating company. The companies should present a business plan to start the operation of the casino and hotel.
