OpticOdds has launched as the first odds data API available as a Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool for Anthropic's Claude Desktop, the company announced. The integration enables direct connectivity between the OpticOdds API and the Claude Desktop client without requiring custom development work.
The MCP integration allows users to query real-time sports data, line movements, player props, and more, through natural language prompts within the Claude Desktop interface.
Example queries include scanning active NBA player props for outliers across multiple sportsbooks, retrieving line movement history for specific games, and pulling main lines for upcoming matchups.
Claude retrieves the requested data from OpticOdds in real time, eliminating the need for users to navigate separate dashboards or build bespoke API connections.
"Making OpticOdds the first odds data API available through MCP reflects how quickly natural language interfaces are becoming part of the sports data workflow," said Ryan Weinstock, VP at OpticOdds. "Our customers can now access the same real-time odds, line movements and player props they rely on today, without writing integration code or moving between tools."
Core features supported by the integration include:
Live fixtures and odds across supported sports and leagues
Player props for individual games
Line movement history
Cross-book line comparison and best price identification
Outlier detection across active markets
Futures odds comparison
Bet grading for settled markets
Historical odds across all sports, leagues and markets.
Existing OpticOdds API customers can activate the integration by adding their current API key to the Claude Desktop configuration file and restarting the application.
