During Japan's fourth casino hearing held in the city of Fukuoka on Kyushu Island last Tuesday, Vice-Governor Susumu Satomi said Nagasaki would be a suitable destination for the country's first Integrated Resort.
“Japan ought not focus only on constructing huge scale facilities, but also understand that having the highest quality is also an aspect of international competitiveness,” Satomi pointed out during the public hearing.
Earlier this month, Japanese authorities outlined a series of casino regulations to be considered by the Diet. Under the recommendations are: the number of IR visits per nationals will be restricted, locals will be allowed to purchase casino chips with cash only and the use of credit cards will be exclusive to foreigners.
However, some opponents expressed their concerns and said the measures does not address gambling addiction and other social issues.
