(Spain).- The Ministry of Economy and Finances has received a total of 33 applications from companies interested in licenses to offer online gaming from December. Business possibilities of this sector will be analyzed in upcoming iGamingSummit’11, to be held in Madrid tomorrow (October 25).

The ministry plans that the draft of the license announcement of the required qualification to be concluded in ten days so, once the office is open, on November 16 (except last-minute changes) the first licenses will be approved December 10.

The regulatory entity, the General Direction of Gaming Regulation, depending on the Ministry, will participate actively in the inauguration of iGamingSummit’11, which will be organized by General Director Inmaculada Vela Sastre.

In her presentation, she is expected to present estimative data on the volume that this (so far non-regulated) activity represents, which, according to sources of the sector, exceeds the 500 million euros in annual benefits for betting houses and online gaming. Besides, the general assistant manager of this department, Juan Carlos Alfonso, will talk about “Gaming Licenses: Legal requirements and tender process”.

The latest steps given by the regulatory entity, after the public information process, are the definite approval of the gaming regulations which, among the statements incorporated, expand the gaming offer such as black jack and changed the definition of “social games” for “complementary games”. Besides, it is expected that Brusells will bring back soon and without objections the two decrees related to technical regulations and licenses.
