Codere Group announced the filing of a commercial lawsuit against Bwin and Real Madrid under Law 31/1991, of Unfair Competition. According to the complaint, the facts that are alleged are of unlawful advertising of gambling and betting in Spain that Bwin is conducted in collaboration with other entities such as the popular football club in Madrid.

In this sense, it is established that the advertising and promotion that bwin has been developing is not authorized by the competent authority, nor subject to any regulatory, or is covered by transnational norms of the European Union. In accordance with the law in force in Spain, it is unlawful advertising and therefore unfair.

"This unfair competition, resulting from the use of an illicit, is affecting the gaming sector in Spain, which accounts for 1% of Spanish GDP and generates over 100,000 direct jobs," note from the firm.

With this demand, Codere intends that the court declares as unlawful advertising the business conducted by Bwin and Real Madrid, and seeks the immediate cessation of advertising, sponsorship and even the possibility to replace, to all customers who request it, the shirts and other promotional materials for items that do not contain the Bwin brand.

The lawsuit, filed before the Commercial Court of Madrid, is the first in a series of legal actions that Codere drives to enforce its rights, "and the one of Spanish companies and other European Union countries who legitimately rely in the law, in the action of the government to care for its implementation and in the jurisprudence of the courts, including the European Union, which these companies are welcome so vague. Neither the Spanish laws and other Spanish regulations, nor the law of the European Union enables Bwin or other similar operators to develop the activities they run in Spain," the firm said.
