The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) approved the renewal of Hard Rock Casino Rockford’s owner’s license during its April meeting, granting a four-year extension reatroactive to January 2026.
The casino, the first opened under Illinois’ 2019 gaming expansion law, launched operations on November 10, 2021, as the state’s 11th casino. It initially operated from a temporary facility before moving to its permanent location in August 2024.
The board also approved a range of licensing and regulatory actions during the meeting, including casino supplier renewals, video gaming licenses, sports wagering approvals, and enforcement actions across sectors.
IGB Administrator Marcus D. Fruchter reminded casino, video gaming, and sports wagering licensees of their obligations under updated advertising and marketing regulations adopted last year.
He also highlighted recent amendments to the Video Gaming Act that restrict certain forms of outdoor advertising at licensed video gaming locations, including movable flags, banners, and temporary signage for 90 days following issuance of a location license.
“The IGB takes the advertising and marketing requirements seriously and expects licensees and applicants to do the same,” he said. “Violations may subject licensees to disciplinary action.”
