MGM Resorts International said it is now powering up to 100% of its daytime electricity needs on the Las Vegas Strip with solar energy.

The milestone follows the start of energy deliveries in December 2025 from the Escape Solar and Storage Project in Lincoln County, Nevada, which supplies 115 megawatts (MW) of solar power and 400 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery storage.

The project operates alongside MGM Resorts’ existing 100-MW Mega Solar Array, more than doubling the company’s renewable energy capacity.

The battery system allows MGM Resorts to store solar energy generated during peak daylight hours and use it in the evening and during periods of lower solar production.

"With this new project coming online, we are accelerating progress toward our goal of using 100% renewable electricity domestically by 2030," said Bill Hornbuckle, CEO and President of MGM Resorts.

"Together with our Mega Solar Array, the new Escape Solar and Storage Project reflects our focus on scalable, impactful clean-energy solutions," he added. “It also demonstrates that our industry can operate more sustainably while delivering long-term cost stability, strengthening our business and supporting a more resilient energy future."

MGM Resorts signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Escape Solar LLC in September 2024 to support up to 100% of the daytime electricity needs of its Las Vegas properties.

Since 2016, MGM Resorts has reduced carbon emissions through multiple solar investments, including its 323,000-panel Mega Solar Array in Las Vegas, rooftop solar installations at Mandalay Bay Convention Center and T-Mobile Arena, and a solar array at MGM Springfield in Massachusetts.
