A new global partnership between OG Esports and Melbet is set to coincide with the European organization’s entry into Southeast Asia through the launch of a full-Filipino Dota 2 roster, marking a notable shift in OG’s regional competitive footprint.
The partnership formalizes Melbet’s role as a supporter of OG’s content initiatives as the team begins competing in Southeast Asia, a region widely regarded for its growing influence on global esports viewership. The move represents an "unprecedented" expansion by a Tier-1 European esports organization into the Southeast Asian competitive ecosystem.
The region played a key role in OG’s early competitive rise, including its Major tournament victory in 2016, which was held in Southeast Asia. The new roster reconnects the organization with that legacy while introducing a locally rooted lineup under the OG banner.
Xavier Oswald, CEO of OG Esports, said: “Partnering with Melbet is a powerful step in our long-term commitment to the SEA region.
"Together, we’re not just showing up on stage; we’re investing in developing and supporting Southeast Asian talents, both in-game and behind the scenes. SEA is one of the beating hearts of esports, and with Melbet at our side, we want to give local players, creators, and fans the platform they deserve.”
Under the agreement, Melbet will support OG’s competitive objectives and a range of content throughout the year. Planned activities include branded content, live appearances, community-focused activations, and storytelling efforts centered on OG’s competitive journey in Southeast Asia. The partnership also extends to operational support for the team, covering areas such as training, logistics, and fan engagement.
Andrey S., Head of Sponsorships at Melbet, highlighted the strategic importance of the move into Southeast Asia. “OG’s expansion into Southeast Asia is one of the most significant developments in today’s Dota 2 landscape," he said. "Their global prestige, combined with a Filipino roster, creates a powerful intersection of legacy and rising regional talent. Melbet is proud to support OG as they begin this new era and connect with millions of fans across Southeast Asia and beyond.”
Content planned as part of the activation includes behind-the-scenes access, tournament-focused coverage, team features, and community engagement across the Southeast Asian circuit, alongside ongoing documentation of the team’s progress in regional competitions.
