FanDuel and FanDuel Sports Network have launched a new broadcast feature aimed at viewers who place wagers while watching games, allowing personal bets to appear directly on the viewing screen.
The companies on Dec. 16 introduced Bet Tracking, which lets FanDuel Sports Network viewers in select NBA and NHL markets link their FanDuel Sportsbook accounts to live game broadcasts and monitor bets in real time as play unfolds.
Viewers who opt in can follow wagering progress, including game outcomes and player prop bets, with information displayed along the bottom and right side of the screen while the game remains centered.
“We wanted to go deeper into how we create something that really makes the fan experience, the viewer experience and the betting experience better,” Mike Raffensperger, president of sports at FanDuel, said.
Raffensperger said Bet Tracking is optional and customizable, allowing users to choose which betting elements appear on screen. “If you don’t want this, the default state is you don’t need to have it up,” he said. “It will not intrude on the viewing experience.”
Even users who enable the feature are not expected to keep it on-screen for the entire game, he added. “It’s a great ability to toggle, check in on things, look at how things are going, and then go back to a full-screen experience,” Raffensperger said.
Eric Ratchman, chief revenue officer of network operator Main Street Sports Group, described Bet Tracking as an effort to connect devices that fans are already using at the same time. “Following the bet with the game on the big screen as you’re sitting in your living room is a really engaging experience,” he said. “It creates a cohesive ecosystem across those two devices that you’re already interacting with.”
The companies said NBA and NHL games in markets with legalized online sports betting where FanDuel Sports Network holds local media rights will be the first to offer Bet Tracking. The initial rollout includes Ohio, North Carolina, Michigan, Tennessee, Missouri, and Indiana.
Teams covered include the Cleveland Cavaliers and Columbus Blue Jackets; Charlotte Hornets and Carolina Hurricanes; Detroit Pistons and Detroit Red Wings; Memphis Grizzlies and Nashville Predators; St. Louis Blues; and the Indiana Pacers.
Gamblers in those markets can access the feature by logging into FanDuel Sports Network’s website or app. The companies also said the feature is available by logging onto FanDuelSportsNetwork.com or the FanDuel Sports Network app using direct-to-consumer or pay-TV credentials, as well as Prime Video.
Ratchman said the product arrives roughly a year after FanDuel Sports Network emerged from bankruptcy and rebranded from Bally Sports, and represents what he called the next evolution in how local sports are delivered. “We’re building the platform for the future to serve the local sports fan,” he said.
In a separate statement announcing the launch, Raffensperger said the integration “represents another significant milestone” in the partnership and highlighted ongoing efforts to expand on-screen odds integrations, exclusive offers such as a “Bet $5, Get 3 Months on Us” promotion, and joint activation around Missouri’s Dec. 1 sportsbook launch. Ratchman said: “In markets where FanDuel Sports Network and FanDuel's Sportsbook operate together, we're seeing meaningful, sustained growth.”
