Stake has introduced passkey login across its casino and sportsbook platform, adopting FIDO-based authentication technology to address phishing risks and streamline player access.

The operator is among the first major iGaming companies to implement passwordless login for its global users.

The passkey feature allows users to sign in through biometric verification or a device PIN, removing the need for passwords or one-time codes. According to Stake, the change aims to make account access more secure and efficient by eliminating common vulnerabilities linked to password reuse and phishing attempts.

Stake’s system follows the globally recognized FIDO (Fast Identity Online) protocol, which is used by technology companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Apple. Microsoft reports a 98% sign-in success rate using passkeys—three times higher than password-based systems—while PayPal recorded a 70% drop in account takeovers after adopting the same standard.

“In an industry where trust and security are paramount, the move to passkey was an obvious next step,” said Stake Head of Product Andrew Forte. “We’re setting a new benchmark for player protection and convenience, removing password risk and proving that the most secure experience can also be the easiest.”

Beyond security improvements, passkey authentication reduces login time. Data from Google shows that passkey sign-ins typically take around 15 seconds, compared with 30 seconds for passwords. Stake, which reports processing over 100 billion bets annually, expects the shorter authentication time to support faster access for users, particularly during live events.

Stake began rolling out the passkey feature in mid-September, with availability gradually expanding through the account settings section of its platform. Users can activate the feature as part of the ongoing deployment.

Founded in 2017, Stake operates one of the most visited online casino and sportsbook platforms worldwide, attracting over 80 million monthly visits and facilitating more than 10 billion bets each year. The company is active in both crypto wagering and regulated local-currency gaming markets in Italy, Denmark, and Latin America.
