Stephen Thayer is no longer general manager of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, a spokesperson confirmed Thursday.
Thayer’s departure came without a public explanation, and the resort has not announced who will take over the day-to-day operations in the interim, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
Thayer was appointed to lead the off-Strip property in September, meaning his exit comes less than a year into the role. The company also declined to provide a timeline for naming a successor.
Thayer replaced Cynthia Kiser Murphey, who stepped down in June 2024 after nearly three years at the helm. Prior to joining the Palms, Thayer served as vice president and general manager of The Strat hotel-casino and held executive roles with Caesars Entertainment in both Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
The Palms is owned and operated by the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority, part of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. The tribe bought the resort from Red Rock Resorts in 2021 for $650 million.
Earlier this year, the Palms made headlines for offering 3:2 blackjack payouts, a more favorable option for players compared to the 6:5 odds found at many Strip properties.
