Gauselmann Group subsidiary adp MERKUR has been recognized as one of Germany’s most innovative companies. The developer, producer and distributor of games and entertainment devices was awarded the title “Digital Innovator 2022” in the category IT Companies by CHIP magazine.

The award places adp MERKUR among the ranks of renowned companies such as SAP, Continental and Miele, which have also received the seal. CHIP describes innovative companies selected in its rank as those contributing to the future viability, as well as the economic success, of a society.

CHIP is a computer and communications magazine published by CHIP Holding in Europe and Asia. The German edition of CHIP was launched in 1978, and remains one of Germany’s oldest and largest computer magazines. To determine the recipients of the recognition, the magazine worked with market research company Globis Management Consulting.

Both parties evaluated the number and quality of new patent applications from 2018 to 2020 in the digital patent classes. A total of 31,000 registrations were recorded, including 7,380 first-time registrations from around 2,000 German companies: only 10% of these were recognized as a “Digital Innovator 2022.”

The Gauselmann subsidiary is responsible for the development, production and distribution of games and entertainment devices within the group. The company was founded in 1972, and currently employs around 1,200 people.

According to the company, it has remained the market leader in the German gaming machine industry since 1984, with adp Gauselmann’s games portfolio for the German market alone comprising more than 270 games. In the past four decades, MERKUR has registered more than 300 patents for its developments.
