Indiana casinos to require face masks until at least the end of May
The Indiana Gaming Commission said operators of the 13 state-licensed casinos have decided to keep the mask rule in place in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus even though Gov. Eric Holcomb had lifted the statewide mask mandate as of April 6, reports the WFYI Public Media.
Therefore gamblers will have to keep wearing face masks inside Indiana's casinos at least through the end of May.
The casino rules state that gamblers must wear masks at table games, while seated at a slot machine, bar, or restaurant table, except when eating, drinking, or smoking. Employees on the other hand are required to have masks on at all times.
The gaming commission said casinos will review whether to continue the mask requirement past June 1.
The state guidelines also direct casinos to obtain permission from local health officials before holding any events that involve large crowds, they also require the casinos to continue extra spacing between slot machine players.
