Just three Beacon Bingo clubs remained as Beacon bingo Loughborough closed recently and the Redcar venue shut permanently. The remaining three clubs will now be known as Merkur Bingo Cricklewood, Merkur Bingo Lowestoft and Merkur Bingo Northampton.

Since the Beacon bingo Loughborough venue closed and the Beacon bingo Redcar shut permanently, there are three remianing bingo clubs, which from now on will be known as Merkur Bingo Cricklewood, Merkur Bingo Lowestoft, and Merkur Bingo Northampton. The three bingo clubs are expected to reopen when bingo halls can once again open their doors after the latest lockdown restrictions.

The corporation reported that Merkur Bingo Northampton, former Beacon Bingo Northampton, had been given authorization by Northampton Council to divide the premises and build a Merkur casino adjacent to the Northampton bingo venue, with both the casino and bingo sites sharing a kitchen.

The move seems possibly one of consolidation as the bingo and casino industries have been devastated by the effects of the pandemic and lockdowns. Most bingo and casino venues were closed for as much as 10 out of 12 months in 2020 and most of 2021, with a number of bingo halls forced to close. It is also a logical move as with the Northampton venue sharing bingo and casino.
