Nevada bill would study virus impact on casino workers

Nevada lawmakers have introduced a bill that would require a study of the long-term health implications of COVID-19 on casino and frontline workers, including those who do not have lawful immigration status.

The bill S.B. 209, introduced on March 11, requires the Committee to conduct a study during 14 the 2021-2022 interim concerning the long-term health implications of SARS-CoV-15 2 on casino workers and frontline workers, including workers living in this State 16 who do not have lawful immigration status. 

The bill also would require that the committee appoint representatives of minority communities to be involved in the study and report study results and recommendations for legislation relating to the study to the director of the legislative counsel bureau by the start of the 2022 session.

The bill also expands paid sick pay for COVID-19 treatment, diagnosis, vaccination, caregiving or other personal needs related to the health of the employee due to the coronavirus.
