Nevada gaming win for August sees 22% drop year-on-year

The state's licensees had a total win of more than $743 million, down from the $953 million taken in the same month a year ago.

According to data released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, gaming win for August in the state was down 22% compared to August 2019.

The new figures come as the state's beleaguered tourism industry continues its recovery amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The report shows the state's licensees had a total win of more than $743 million, down from the $953 million taken in August 2019.

On the Las Vegas Strip, casinos won $317.3 million, down more than 39% from the year-ago month.

Downtown Las Vegas and Laughlin, Clark County's two other tourism drivers, were down 21% and 9%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Boulder Strip saw a win of $70.9 million, up more than 29% from August last year.

The Gaming Control Board reports Nevada collected about $78.3 million in percentage fees from taxable revenues generated in August.

That figure is up more than 56% from the $50 million collected in percentage fees from a year ago.
