Peru gambling venues would reopen in August
The president of the National Tourism Association, Carlos Canales Anchorena, has admitted the sector is going through extremely difficult times. In spite of that, he remains confident that local tourism will help the industry close this year with more encouraging numbers.
"In July, local tourism will resume and we are planning to boost it with strong promotions and appealing lines of credit. The program is called Turismo Para Todos and will launch in July. If not, the entire tourism industry would go bankrupt," Canales Anchorena said.
The Minister of National Production, Rocío Ingred Barrios Alvarado also explained that restrictions will be lifted through three stages and tourism is included in stage three, so it would resume operations on July 15, when the health crisis is over.
However, the casino sector, which is one of the most regulated touristic activities is in the last stage of the reactivation program so operations won’t resume until August.
