Ukrainian Gaming Week 2020 to become first event dedicated to reviving Ukraine’s gambling market

On January 16, 2020, Verkhovna Rada —the unicameral parliament of Ukraine— adopted draft law № 2285-d, which legalizes gambling in the nation in the first reading. 260 lawmakers voted in favor. The new bill is missing two paragraphs and has increased the minimum age for players (21) in comparison with the previous version.

Adoption of the draft law in the first reading has become the starting point for the revival of the Ukrainian gambling industry. It still has to pass through some stages of the legislative procedure, but there’s already an understanding of what the legalization will look like. The program of the Ukrainian Gaming Week (UGW 2020) is being arranged in the same direction, Gioco news reports.

The influence of the voting process on the event program

Organizers of UGW 2020 have been following the work of the government related to basic and alternative draft laws. Today, when the parliament has made its decision, organizers are preparing the country’s largest specialized event taking into account all permits and limitations. It will include a two-day exhibition with top gambling market players and two days of the conference.

First day will be dedicated to such sectors:

• online casino;
• betting shops;
• slots;
• lotteries;
• online poker.

On the second day, attendees will enjoy presentations based on real cases from the market players

UGW 2020 is focused on the support of the legalization initiative. It will undoubtedly fill the budget, boosting medium and large business, generating new investment, developing the tourism sector and creating new jobs.
