Gateway to open Wasaga Beach casino in 2021

Wasaga Beach Mayor Nina Bifolchi learned of the timeline at a meeting on Thursday morning. The town will share revenue from the casino with Gateway, which is expected to net Wasaga Beach between $1.2 and $2.4 million each year.

Gateway Casino and Entertainment’s groundbreaking for its Wasaga Beach facility —Ontario, Canada— will take place in the spring of 2020, with a scheduled opening for late 2021.

Wasaga Beach Mayor Nina Bifolchi said in a statement that she’s “excited” for the casino to become a part of the town.

“The new casino means new direct and indirect jobs, as well as new entertainment and dining offerings,” she said in a statement. She learned of the timeline at a meeting on Thursday morning. "I want to thank Gateway for its continued commitment to our community."

The town will share revenue from the casino with Gateway, which is expected to net Wasaga Beach between $1.2 and $2.4 million each year, CTV News reports.

According to town officials, Gateway representatives will present their plans to council and the community in 2020.
