Football authorities and operators join forces to promote sports integrity in Peru

The agreement was signed within the framework of the first edition of Peru’s Betting Sports Marketing Conference, a series of conferences organized by LMG Eventos, which took place November 5, at Videna, the National Sports Venue, in Lima.

They aim to carry out jointed efforts to prevent match-fixing and counteract the effects of potential harms derived from such practices.

Key players within the sports wagering sector in Peru signed this week an Agreement for Sports Integrity and Sports Betting, to begin a series of joint efforts focused on implementing educational, prevention, and damage control initiatives related to match-fixing in the region, especially as regards football.

Signatories included Ángel Suárez (Peruvian Football Federation), Víctor Villavicencio (Movistar Professional Football League), Alberto D'Angelo (Intralot Peru and Peruvian Association for Sports Betting and Online Gambling), Gonzalo Pérez (Apuesta Total and Association for Sports Betting and Online Gambling), Edison Jhon Quispe Cuayla (BetSport), Jeremy Castillo (Timberazo), Rafael D. Vasquez (Bet4U) and Luis Felipe Cornejo del Barco (Sportimba).

Authorities from the Peruvian Football Federation, the Peruvian Sports Institute and representatives of the main sports betting operators gather together to discuss topics related to ethics, best practices, data, and sports marketing, among others. 

Guillermo Barcalay, Business Manager, Intralot Peru; Gonzalo Pérez, General Manager and CEO, Apuesta Total, and member of the Board of Directors of the Peruvian Association for Sports Betting and Online Gambling; Juan Matías Mendez, Integrity Manager, Sportradar; and Ricardo Magri, Business Development Director for LatAm, Sportradar, were some of the speakers at the event.

The event was sponsored by Sportradar, Rivalo Colombia, Sportimba, GeniusSports, and Kiron.
