Scientific Games joins National Council on Problem Gambling campaign for the holidays

The company is joining lotteries around the world in the “Gift Responsibly. Lottery Tickets Aren’t Child’s Play” responsible gaming campaign. Schaefer will lead Scientific Games’ proactive strategy to further promote responsible gaming in its lottery business.

Scientific Games Corporation has announced that it is once again joining lotteries around the world in the “Gift Responsibly. Lottery Tickets Aren’t Child’s Play” responsible gaming campaign led by the National Council on Problem Gambling.

As the world’s largest supplier of lottery instant games and a leading supplier of numbers games and technology, Scientific Games joins widespread support for the initiative. In 2018, the company participated in the “Gift Responsibly” campaign along with all U.S. and Canadian lotteries and a number of international lotteries.

“Scientific Games is one of the first companies to be certified by the World Lottery Association as a responsible gaming supplier. We support a number of leading responsible gaming organizations like the National Council on Problem Gaming and we work closely with lotteries and retailers to help prevent those under 18 from playing lottery games,” said Pat McHugh, Group Chief Executive, Lottery for Scientific Games. “Additionally, we are continually innovating new technologies like our advanced SG Vision technology, which helps protect against underage lottery purchases at retail.”

McHugh said that underscoring the company’s strong commitment to responsible gaming, it recently named Carla Schaefer, recognized as an industry expert on lottery products and marketing, to the role of Vice President of Responsible Gaming, Lottery.

In her new position, Schaefer will lead Scientific Games’ proactive strategy to further promote responsible gaming in its lottery business. She will work closely across all Scientific Games teams to leverage data and predictive analytics to implement programs and develop products and programs for the company’s lottery customers that help raise awareness for and mitigate potential problem gaming before it becomes an issue for any player.
