Rush Street Interactive's online sportsbook, BetRivers.com, was first to launch statewide, followed shortly by DraftKings' platform, marking the third state to gain access to DraftKings’ digital sportsbook product. They are the first online sportsbooks approved by regulators since this vertical became legal in the state Sept. 1.

"We are excited to make history in the state of Indiana," said Richard Schwartz, president of Rush Street Interactive.

"DraftKings could not be more thrilled to expand our national reach as states continue to open the market for legalized sports betting," said Matt Kalish, co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer at DraftKings. “Since our sportsbook product launched in 2018, we have made it our number-one priority to provide sports fans with a responsible place to wager on a superior and technologically advanced sports-betting platform. With Indiana becoming the latest state to offer legalized online and mobile sports betting, we are excited to provide the top-rated sportsbook app to some of the nation’s most passionate and dedicated sports fans.”

Through DraftKings’ platform, fans in the Hoosier state will be able to bet on professional teams and collegiate sports, including Indiana’s popular Division I college and university sports teams with a variety of pre-match, in-play and player proposition wagers available.

Regulators hoped to launch online sports wagering Sept. 1, Indystar reported, but never ruled out a two-tiered approach to rolling out sports betting in the state — first focusing on retail sportsbooks, and then shifting to mobile sportsbooks.

Sara Gonso Tait, executive director of the Indiana Gaming Commission, said one other company has applied to launch an online sports wagering platform beginning this month. It's too early to know if that requested launch date will be authorized, she said.

Both DraftKings' and Rush Street Interactive's mobile sportsbooks can be accessed through a web browser. DraftKings also offers both an Apple and Android app, while Rush Street Interactive offers only an Android app.

Both companies' Android apps are not accessible directly through the Google Play Store.
