Under the new state gaming law, the Rosemont-owned
Allstate Arena is a qualifying venue for a sports facility gaming license. Rosemont is looking for the best qualified licensee to operate this facility.
The newly created committee is charged with developing a framework to judge applicants for suitability. The gaming committee will work with the
Illinois Gaming Board to clarify and guide the process prior to application submittal. The committee will make recommendations to the Village Board of Trustees in the coming months.
Village attorney John Donahue, of the firm Rosenthal, Murphey, Coblentz & Donahue, will serve as chairman of the Rosemont Gaming Committee. Also serving will be Todd Waldrop, Senior Managing Director from Mesirow Financial; attorney Robert Stephenson; village real estate and development attorney William Ryan; and Rosemont chief financial officer Don Calmeyn.
Under the new law, the Allstate Arena qualifies for a sports facility master sports wagering license because it has a seating capacity of more than 17,000 people. The Arena serves as the home facility for the Chicago Wolves professional hockey club and also hosts other professional sporting events.
Any entities interested in further information about this process should contact Rosemont Gaming Committee Chairman John Donahue at (312) 541-1070.
