After a VIP soft opening, the event will now be open for public. The project included the addition of a five-story hotel with 148 guest rooms and a hospitality suite, a full-service restaurant, additional square footage for retail space, and an increased gaming floor with accommodations for up to 400 additional slot machines.

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is preparing to celebrate the multimillion dollar expansion and hotel project at Saganing Eagles Landing Casino in Arenac County, Michigan.

The event is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m., September 6, and the public is welcome to attend, according to Interim Public Relations Director Erik Rodriguez. “We did have a soft opening on August 19th and that was for VIPs and tribal members just to kind of experience the property,” he said,as reported by Mass Live.

Crews broke ground on the casino’s expansion in June 2017. The project, as originally described, included the addition of a five-story hotel with 148 guest rooms and a hospitality suite, a full-service restaurant, additional square footage for retail space, and an increased gaming floor with accommodations for up to 400 additional slot machines, according to the casino’s website.

“This expansion further solidifies our presence in our aboriginal territory and shows our commitment to the community and economic growth for the region," Chief Frank Cloutier said in a statement at the time. According to Saganing Eagles Landing’s website, room booking is already available by phone.

Earlier this year, casino and hotel officials sought to fill some open positions and more than 100 new full-time and part-time jobs, bringing the casino and new hotel’s total workforce to more than 500, Human Resources Manager Karen M. Perry previously told The Saginaw News in May.

Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mount Pleasant, also owned by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, recently underwent renovation and expansion as well. The $26.5 million project completed last year included a new sports bar and night club, luxury high-limit gaming area and VIP lounge for “diamond” players.

Saganing Eagles Landing Casino is located on Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe reservation land east of Standish in Arenac County, about 30 miles north of Bay City.
