The combined total of the state's six casinos was the most of any single month except March, during which revenues surpassed $150 million for the first time.

Maryland lottery and gaming officials announced Tuesday that Maryland’s six casinos produced a combined $145.2 million in revenue in April, a 1.2% rise against the figure released for the same month last year.

The casinos set the previous record, $141.1 million, in March 2017, three months after the MGM National Harbor opened in Prince George’s County. Four of the six casinos saw year-over-year gains in April, the Baltimore Sun reports.

MGM National Harbor, the state’s newest casino, led the pack with $60.8 million in revenue from slots and table games — a 5.3% increase from the previous April, according to the Lottery and Gaming Control Agency. MGM has profited from its proximity to Washington, D.C., and Virginia, which don’t have their own casinos.

Live Casino and Hotel in Anne Arundel County took second place with $47.8 million in revenue last month, a 2.2% increase from the previous April. The Horseshoe Casino Baltimore’s $19.7 million in revenue from slots and table games was a 9.6% drop from the same month a year ago.

Revenues decreased 9.8% at the Hollywood Casino in Perryville, which generated $6.2 million in April.

Ocean Downs Casino near Ocean City, which added table games in December, saw a 6.7% bump in revenue last month from the previous April to $5.9 million.

Rocky Gap Casino Resort generated $4.8 million in revenue, a slight increase from the same month last year.

The state’s share of the casino revenue is spent on to the Education Trust Fund and other causes, including the casinos’ local governments and the state horse racing industry.
