Today, the Government of Catalonia announced that Hard Rock International was awarded the exclusive authorization to operate Hard Rock Entertainment World, an integrated resort, in Catalonia.
“For years, some of the world’s largest gaming companies have pursued the opportunity to create an integrated resort in Europe, and we are proud that Hard Rock was selected for the opportunity to bring our world-class brand of entertainment to the region,” said Jim Allen, Chairman and CEO of Hard Rock International. This project is defined through a complete Zoning Plan already approved by the Catalan Government, with a maximum capacity of 745.000 sq. meters for all the different uses and an estimated global investment of USD 2.7 million, including the cost of the land and infrastructures needed, to be developed in phases over several years."
Phase 1 will be headlined by the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tarragona integrated resort, which will include a 600-room upscale hotel, casino, high end-retail, world-class dining, Hard Rock Live
entertainment venue, iconic Hard Rock Cafe and additional resort amenities. True to the Hard Rock brand, the entertainment destination will offer concert capacity in excess of 15,000 people and a Hard Rock Live performance venue that will host regional and international musical acts and shows, and an accompanying Rock Shop, featuring authentic Hard Rock merchandise.
The project is expected to create 11,500 construction and ongoing jobs and will help bring more than two million visitors to the property and destination annually. Phase one minimum investment is expected to exceed USD 700 million and is estimated to create more than 2,000 ongoing jobs and an economic impact to the region of more than USD 1,7 billion.
