More than 250 congressmen are said to have attended the inauguration of Brazil’s Parliamentary Front for the Legalization of Gambling,
The meeting, which took place in Brasilia at 8 a.m., drew representatives from major casino operators including Las Vegas Sands, Estoril Sol and Caesars, all of which have expressed great interest in investing in the South American country.
Deputy César Halum, who created the front, addressed attendees during the gathering. The long-time gambling legalization proponent says a regulated market would boost the country’s economy by R$ 18.000M, generating up to one million jobs.
Should the Brazilian government pass a bill allowing gambling, public officials believe bingo operations would be managed by local companies, whereas casino projects would be developed and operated by joint ventures between international operators and local firms.
