It’s now six years since GTA first found out that the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre was going to be redeveloped. The organization worked hard during the three years that the event was in a temporary venue to concentrate on the exhibitors and the visitors. “We grew the show during that temporary venue phase from 15,000 square metres four years ago to 19,000 square metres plus, this year. This 26% increase in exhibition space was matched with a 19% increase in visitor numbers for 2017, over last year. We are very happy with these increases,“ Ferrar said in a statement.
He continued, “Of course we have to give credit to the Government of the day who took the courageous step to build a temporary facility, because it helped the exhibition and events industry through the re-development process. But this now, is a fantastic facility and we have a lot of international guests here and they are all saying the same thing that this is the best exhibition venue in the world right now.
“The impressive new ICC Sydney has allowed us to reintroduce educational sessions to the event, in state of the art seminar rooms, and the venue also catered a ‘Women in Gaming’ Lunch and a world-class dinner for Gaming Industry Leaders.
“In fact, a stand out with the new venue is the positive comments we have had about the quality of the food. The catering team at the ICC Sydney have worked really hard – and all credit to them - to change the perception of visitors and exhibitors alike to the food at such a large event.”
GTA will continue to improve this event. “I’m blessed in so far as I have had the same team in place for the last 10 years and we all know each other and we know what’s required to make the event successful. We know that the finish line for 2018 is a little further away and we’ll hit that too,” Ferrar concluded.
