Detroit casinos post positive results

Detroit's three casinos reported an aggregate revenue of USD 119M in July, a 5.3% increase over June's figure, the Michigan Gaming Control Board said Monday.

Detroit's three casinos reported an aggregate revenue of USD 119M in July, a 5.3% increase over June's figure, the Michigan Gaming Control Board said Monday.

Revenue at Greektown Casino-Hotel and MotorCity Casino Hotel fell compared with the same month last year, while MGM Grand Detroit saw an increase of 2 percent over last July to $51.2 million.

Greektown's monthly revenue decreased 1.4 percent to $27.3 million and MotorCity's fell 0.2 percent to $40.5 million. 

The casinos paid $9.64 million in gaming taxes to the state in July, compared with $9.6 million last year, according to the report. They also sent the city of Detroit $14.2 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments.
