"Anytime a minor is on the casino floor, we take it very seriously. We’ve had a couple where underage folks were aided by a family member,” said Vice President and General Counsel of Sands Casino, Michael Magazzu. “Even with the best technology, it’s very difficult to prevent those types of entrees.”
He pointed out the casino’s new advanced ID scanning system has helped close some of the cracks, but even that has its limits.
Casino President Mark Juliano said of the roughly 25,000 people who enter the casino each day, about 300 are turned away for being underage.
The incidents involved people aged 16-to-20 years old and happened between Sept. 25 and March 1, according to Michael Roland, an attorney with the gaming board’s office of enforcement.
