Figures released by the Financial Services Bureau show a total of USD 4.6B in revenue was collected in direct taxes from January to May 2017.

In May, gross gambling revenue jumped 23.7 percent year-on-year to MOP22.7 billion according to DICJ.

The strong gain came despite a visit to the territory by China's No. 3 politician, the Chairman of the National People's Congress, Zhang Dejiang, which had been expected to curtail growth.

The results in the month brought Macau’s GGR year-to-date to MOP106.4 billion, up 15.8 percent year-on-year compared to the prior-year period.

The Macau government fiscal surplus for the January-May period was up by 44.7 percent year-on-year to MOP23.79 billion.
