The Esports Integrity Coalition has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the UK Gambling Commission to prevent malpractice in eSports.

ESIC also has an MOU with Nevada’s gambling body, and the information sharing means that, technically through the conduit of the ESIC, Vegas’s body and the UKGC are working together to keep esports better clean. This in addition to the rest of the ESIC’s members, who deal with wagering worldwide.

“This MOU is a significant step for ESIC and the esports community,” commented Ian Smith, commissioner of ESIC. “The Gambling Commission has significant resources and powers that will be invaluable in helping to combat any emergence of organized esports continues to grow successfully, so will the inevitable attempts to profit on the back of that success through illegitimate means. This agreement will help protect all the individuals, teams and companies working so hard to make esports successful for players and fans alike” Smith continued in a statement.
