The opening of the third phase, in the hotel’s former first-floor pool area, follows the May 1 opening of a second phase with 427 VLTs, including 64 seats at electronic table games, in the hotel’s former second-floor ballroom, according to a statement from its operator Delaware North.
The Islandia casino, Long Island’s first, has had a successful opening run so far. Jake’s took in net VLT income of just over $7 million in April alone, according to numbers from the New York State Gaming Commission.
The Village of Islandia is using funds from the casino’s gaming operations to offset a reduction in property taxes for its residents. Delaware North has also provided $1.5 million to the village for the redevelopment of the First Responders Recreation Field on Old Nichols Road, according to the statement.
