Following a successful showcase at FADJA 2017, the Maltese-based sports betting software developer discusses the leading role of the Colombian gaming market. “Colombia is one of the largest and best-regulated markets in Latin America”

How would you assess FADJA 2017 on the overall? Was Sirplay able to meet its business goals?

Despite the rumors and the uncertainty surrounding the venue relocation and the little time available, the organization has proven successful in managing the situation at its best. In terms of visitor traffic, FADJA maintained its statistics recording 5000 participants during the two-day exhibition. For Sirplay, the event was a massive success. It was our exhibition with strongest turnover to date. We achieved all the goals set before the show.

What are the opportunities for the company in the country?

Colombia is one of the largest and best-regulated gaming markets in Latin America. For Sirplay, this translates into numerous new business opportunities. Our approach -the one that has made us stand out from the rest for so many years- will remain the same.

At the show you formally unveiled the name of your first Colombian customer. How is that evolving, considering ColBet is the first online operator to have applied for a license in the country? Are you in talks with other companies to secure similar deals once the market is fully regulated?

With ColBet we are keeping the licensing process up, waiting for its completion foreseen for the end of month. At the moment, we are in talks with other three betting organizations awaiting for the fully regulation. The decision to undertake the licensing process is not an easy one considering the investment required and the uncertainty regarding potential market problems.
