Texas attemp to legalize DFS fails

State Rep. Richard Raymond, D-Laredo, sponsor of the bill, said he would file another project in the 2019 legislative session.
According to a report published by Dallas News, the legislation would legalize companies like DraftKings and FanDuel.
One opponent of the bill said he was not shocked at that outcome, since Attorney General Ken Paxton had already declared that a constitutional amendment was needed to allow fantasy sports companies in Texas.
"They tried to fly a bill straight into an attorney general's opinion," said Robert Kohler, a lobbyist for the Christian Life Commission of the Baptist General Convention.
Daily fantasy sports websites allow players to buy into a game. Players create a team using real pro stars, whose statistics in actual games are then tallied. The fantasy players win or lose money based on how their team performs.
