Spain’s online gambling market grows in Q1

According to figures released by Spanish national gambling regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), revenue in the first quarter amounted to USD 133.4M.

According to figures released by Spanish national gambling regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), revenue in the first quarter amounted to USD 133.4M.

In the last quarter, the net margin of the game experienced a rise in the betting segment (+ 2.63%) and a decrease in the segments of poker (-0.58%), casino (-9.51%), Bingo (-5.37%) and contests (-54.17%).

The spend of advertising operators decreased considerably by 14.33% year-on-year.

Unlike the total amount of withdrawals made by registered users, which reached 216.6 million euros and increased by 26.27%.

Online casino revenue jumped 30% year-on-year to €32.5 million.

Due in part to a 42% increase in spend on both slots and roulette – each of which reported revenue of around €13.7 million.

In addition, despite online poker spending dropping by 1.8% in the first quarter, revenue from this sector of the market was up 2.4% to €15.1 million, with cash games accounting for 64.4% of all poker spend in the period.
