According to Mediavision, between 200,000 and 230,000 people in Sweden gamble on an online casino every month. Unibet and Betsson each accounted for about 50,000 players every month during the first three month of the year.
The firm pointed out that competition could sharpen further if domestic companies Svenska Spel and ATG start offering casino games, following the recommendation made by Swedish government’s gambling investigation to bring in a licence system for such services.
In Q1 2017, there were television commercials for 27 different brands of online casino, making up one in ten television advertising minutes, said Mediavision.
