Detroit casino revenue increases in Q1 2017

Detroit's three casinos had an aggregate revenue of USD 131.2M in March, a 5 % increase from the same time last year and an 11.9 % rise from February, according to figures released by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

Detroit's three casinos had an aggregate revenue of USD 131.2M in March, a 5 % increase from the same time last year and an 11.9 % rise from February, according to figures released by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

The aggregate revenue of the casinos for the first quarter of 2017 was $360.5 million, up 2.9 percent from the first quarter of last year.

March revenue rose at all three casinos:

MGM Grand Detroit increased 4.5 percent year over year to $54.2 million
MotorCity Casino Hotel rose 3.2 percent to $45.1 million
Greektown Casino-Hotel climbed 8.6 percent to $32 million
First quarter revenue also increased at all three casinos:

MGM Grand increased 2.5 percent year over year to $149.4 million
MotorCity rose 2.4 percent to $124.1 million
Greektown increased 4.2 percent to $87 million
MGM Grand accounted for 41 percent of the month's market share. MotorCity had 35 percent and Greektown had 24 percent.

The casinos reported paying $29.2 million in gaming taxes during the first quarter of 2017, compared with $28.4 million last year.
