PhilWeb Corp said Tuesday it acquired a Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp e-Games site through a subsidiary, as it awaited approval of a new license to operate.

The company said its unit, BigGame Inc, took in the Novaliches-based facility by giving 340,000 PhilWeb shares to a certain Jerry D. Bolo.

PhilWeb shares were down 1.76 percent to P7.80 in early trading on Tuesday.

Regulators refused to renew PhilWeb's license after it expired in August, as President Rodrigo Duterte declared that he was against online gambling.

The President also singled out PhilWeb Chairman Roberto Ongpin as an "oligarch" who must be destroyed, forcing the tycoon to resign from the company.
