The Goa Cabinet on Monday sought three months’ time to workout an alternate site for off-shore casinos presently operating at the mouth of the river Mandovi.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told The Hindu that it is not an extension given to casinos.

“As the election code of conduct was in place, the government could not take any decision. The government will now identify alternate sites in three months for their relocation,” he said.

The license of these casinos was to expire by the end of March.
