Stevens, who graduated from the University of Michigan in 1990, wagered a hefty $12,500 on the seventh-seeded Michigan to win the 2017 NCAA Tournament. If the Tom Izzo-led Wolverines pull off the upset, he’ll walk away with a cool $1million. Stevens posted a picture of the ticket he purchased at the Golden Nugget Las Vegas on his Twitter account on March 13.
The owner of The D Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, as well as the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, both in downtown Vegas, Stevens placed the wager at the Golden Nugget.
Golden Nugget CEO Tilman Fertitta doesn’t appear to be sweating, tweeting at Stevens on Sunday afternoon, “Should be fun my friend!”
Stevens also made headlines before the NCAA Tournament by placing an $11,000 wager on each of the 32 first-round games, against the spread. He won both his bets on his home-state teams, picking Michigan and Michigan State to win their openers.
