Barcelona's remarkable turnaround against PSG meant a hefty eight figure pay out on the Catalan giants turning around a 4-0 first leg deficit on home soil.

While it may not have directly decided the outcome of a Champions League title, Barcelona's remarkable turnaround against PSG must rank alongside Liverpool's second half display in Istanbul for the comeback of all comebacks in Europe's premier club competition.

It's certainly not a night bet365 are likely to forget in a hurry, as their significant liabilities meant a hefty eight figure pay out on the Catalan giants turning around a 4-0 first leg deficit on home soil.

Backed in from 20/1 (21.0) at the final whistle of the first leg to 7/1 (8.0) to qualify before kick off on Wednesday night, any such performance would have been remarkable enough but the manner of the 6-1 win meant some gigantic prices on Luis Enrique's men were laid in the final few minutes.

"Our worst scenario in-play was going to be Barcelona pulling off the impossible late on – and that’s what we got." said Steve Freeth, bet365's spokesman.

The online firm had already seen liabilities spiral to a few million before the game but the three goal flurry after Edinson Cavani had seemingly killed off all hope of a Catalan comeback only made matters worse

Nerves would have been jangling in the French camp when a Lionel Messi penalty put the home side 3-0 up shortly after the half time interval but Cavani’s strike then seemed to have put the tie beyond the Spanish side.

What followed was a remarkable turnaround including a quick-fire double from Neymar, the second of which was scored during injury time, before a last-gasp sixth goal from Sergi Roberto settled the matter with almost the final kick off the game.

Betfair revealed that some exchange punters had been able to back Barcelona at 349/1 (350.0) to qualify during the later stages of the match and while bet365 did not lay a price at that level, plenty of customers clearly took a chance on the ultimate comeback at some huge quotes.

Barca are now favourites to win the tournament, available at 11/4 (3.75) ahead of Bayern Munich (16/5), Real Madrid (5/1) and Juventus who are 9/1 (10.0) to go one better than when losing out to the Catalan giants in the final two years ago.
