The Polish government hopes to stop the annual losses tied to illegal machine gambling by granting the monopoly on gambling machines production to state defense group PGZ.

Losses are estimated at some PLN 550,000.

State-run games-of-chance firm Totalizator Sportowy was already given a monopoly on obtaining proceeds from gambling machines by the new anti-gambling bill which comes into effect next month.

Totalizator Sportowy will spend up to PLN 1.2 billion on machines purchases over four years and plans to build a network of 35,000 machines, to be supplied by PGZ.
