Government revenue from gaming and gambling in Italy rose 22.3% in 2016, the internal revenue service said Monday.

Figures account for 2.654 billion euros.

The fight against tax evasion notched a record 19 billion euros, it said. Tax and licensing revenue from the gaming and gambling sector has risen steadily over the past few years, even during the country´s recent recession.
