The ICE in London is one of the most significant shows in the global gaming market, if not the most significant. Not only are all the European companies present here, there are many global companies that exhibit at ICE. Here companies launch new products and technologies. The ICE is the ideal platform to see our customers – manufacturers and operators in all segments of gaming.
How do you analyze the industry's fortunes last year?
The industry offers a great deal of various gaming opportunities and practically each gaming segment has its own legal specifications and these often vary country to country. Therefore, it is not possible to generalize about the industry’s fortunes. What I can tell you that last year was an excellent year for SUZOHAPP as we continue to grow our portfolio of solutions.
What changes and news are you expecting given the continuing growth of online gaming?
We see online gaming as an addition to the industry – so enabling the industry to grow as a whole. The land-based industry remains key and this is where we are active.
What new solutions are you presenting this year?
We have plenty of new components and solutions that we will be showing on our stand at ICE. For cash management - these include the CashComplete SDS 25 and SDS 30, and the Cash Redemption Terminal. On the component side we will be showing the new SH1950 Edgelit Topper, the Intelligent Coin System, the Picture Key Technology pushbutton deck, a new barcode scanner… and much more!
June 23 will mark a year since the UK decided to leave the European Union. How do you think Brexit has affected the gambling industry?
The effects so far have proven to be limited. We do believe it is important to closely watch the outcome of negotiations between EU and the UK on the process of Britain leaving the EU, which still needs to be somehow triggered. Until that it’s all pure speculation.
How do you analyze the recent decision by Japan to legalize casinos? Do you consider it an appealing market for potential investments?
Legalizing casinos is a development that we greatly support as it enables players to enjoy gaming in a legal environment and naturally it also gives us growth opportunities. As we are a global company we are monitoring every individual market and we surely invest if we see an opportunity that is interesting for us.
Brazil in South America is also moving closer to gambling legalization. What is your opinion about this?
This gambling legalization will give a huge boost to the whole industry, especially to our OEM customers who are all closely monitoring all the ongoing developments. Everyone knows the size of this market is enormous and we as well would benefit with both the OEMs as well as in the after-market business when Brazil would actually open.
