Following twists and turns, it seems Vietnamese will be finally allowed to gamble at two casinos currently under development in the country, located in the Van Don Special Economic Zone and in Phu Quoc Island respectively, Yogonet has learned exclusively.

According to Professor Augustine Ha Ton Vinh, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited the Van Don site by the end of last week, expected to sign the gaming decree “very soon.”

In a previous talk with Yogonet back in October, Professor Vinh had said that “the country top leaders have recently decided to allow Vietnamese to enter two designated integrated resorts, one on the Van Don Island, Ha Long Bay, in the North and the other on Phu Quoc Island in the South.”

“I expect this draft decree to be finalized and released anytime soon, now that the Politburo has expressed its will and the way forward is clear," he said by that time.

Professor Augustine Ha Ton Vinh is a senior advisor to leading international gaming companies, with vast experience in Vietnam's political system and gaming regulations.

Following the meeting that was reportedly held on December 22, the Prime Minister is now expected to sign the decree "very soon."
