Already in control of a 50% stake in Sociedad Comercial del Plata (SCP) of Trilenium Casino — a gambling venue located in the northern Greater Buenos Aires district of Tigre —, gaming company Boldt has now moved to aquire the rest of the firm paying out USD 8.5M.

The operation took place on Friday last week. The judge in charge of the bankruptcy process of SCP must yet approve the transaction which many considered unexpected since the company was thought to be left under control of gambling mogul Cristobal López.

In 2014, gaming czar López purchased 50 percent of the casino which was built in 1999 following special permission granted by former BA province governor Eduardo Duhalde. The casino had been operated by Trilenium SA, a partnership between SCP and gaming company Boldt.

According to media reports by that time, the deal was made after López bought a 50 per cent stake in the company in return for US$108m which was previously held by SCP belonging to the Soldati Group. The other half of the shares of Trilenium remained under the control of the Boldt Group which also runs gaming properties in Santa Fe, Mar del Plata and Miramar.

Now, it has been reported that Boldt aquired the rest of SCP for USD 8.5M.
