SB 265 passed on a vote of 27-0 and heads to the Ohio House for further consideration. The bill would have to be passed by that chamber in coming days; otherwise, backers would have to reintroduce it next session.
"This is a very simple bill," said Sen. Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati), primary sponsor of the legislation. "It allows people who work for a casino to play at a casino that is not under common ownership with the casino for which they work."
Employees at the state's racinos already enjoy comparable privileges, Seitz said.
"We are changing the law to make the casino law read like the racino law," he said.
